Our good friend, the Houseman is hosting a benefit concert for Mardi Gras.  A great line-up of music, food and entertainment and a great cause.  It was fun rockin' out with the Houseman last year at Martyrs'.  I might make a short appearance with Houseman, but I'll definitely be there.  To get you in the mood, check out some great New Orleans, Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest photos on our friend Nunu's new website.

On Tuesday, March 8 the Hard Rock Cafe Chicago will host a benefit concert and fundraising party in support of the upcoming feature-length documentary LET THERE BE LIFE, which aims to raise organ donation awareness:

Houseman's "Let There Be Life" Mardi Gras Ball, Mar 8, 2011

Tickets available at: http://www.lettherebelifedocumentary.com/benefit-concert

The concert will boast a line-up of Chicago's finest talent including Funkadesi, the BS Brass Band, and Vance Kelly and the Backstreet Blues Band.   Special guests will include Grammy Award winning spoken word artist Malik Yusef with Damon Ranger of the Emmy Award winning rock group Blackbox and Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet, former member of Galactic and subject of LET THERE BE LIFE.

The event will include:  a red carpet arrival for celebrity and VIP guests; a meet and greet with the director and documentary subjects; screenings of never before seen teaser footage shot at the legendary Tipitina's in New Orleans; and a silent auction and raffle of donated goods, services, and rare music memorabilia.  Gift of Hope and the Living Kidney Donor’s Network will also be in attendance with educational booths and donor registration.

This Fat Tuesday celebration will be an authentic New Orleans experience.  In addition to the funk, soul, and classic Mardi Gras tunes the Hard Rock Cafe will be serving up complimentary New Orleans fare and New Orleans drink specials.
